M?STIC: “My Goal Isn’t Just to Fit Into Bass Music, It’s to Push It Forward”

Pioneering producer and DJ M?STIC sheds light on his musical influences, his unrelenting drive as an artist, and his desire to evolve bass music.

Hailing from Redlands, CA, ascendant artist M?STIC is making waves with his experimental bass tracks that ooze with energy and grit. The rising talent’s growing discography is a testament to his innate ability to craft forward-driving sound designs that can’t be pinned to a single subgenre of bass music.

While he didn’t start out wanting to make a name for himself as a DJ, M?STIC always knew he needed to create music. Producing became his outlet and escape, and he first arrived on the scene with his 2019 release, “Money.” Since then, he’s developed a sound that remains distinctive while showcasing his versatility as a producer.

Inspired by the dubstep greats who graced Never Say Die and Disciple during their height, their influence has shaped how M?STIC approaches energy, sound design, and intensity in music. When asked where he draws musical inspiration, M?STIC looks to his clique, STUNNA POSSE, as they “push each other to evolve and stay original.” As a multi-dimensional artist, he also seeks inspiration from spaces beyond the bass scene, which is evident in his productions.

Outside of bass music, I pull a lot from rap and hip-hop. The emotion, confidence, storytelling, and raw energy in rap definitely play a role in shaping the M?STIC sound. When you blend all of those influences together, you get something aggressive, emotional, and unpredictable.

His latest single, “CHROME HEARTS” featuring greyfate, is a hard-hitting dubstep track whose energy is begging for a mosh pit. While he may drop heavy tracks, M?STIC is adamant that he produces from a place of creating moments people remember rather than chasing a particular sound. “My biggest goal with music is always to make people feel something,” he said. “I treat music like art — every sound, transition, and atmosphere is there to create a reaction or emotional connection. “

Drawing inspiration from personal experiences, memories, and emotions he’s felt throughout his life, M?STIC channels his life story into his soundscapes, making his music even more compelling. “If somebody can hear one of my tracks and feel understood or energized by it, then I’ve done my job.”

As for dabbling within different subgenres of bass music with his productions, M?STIC sees his versatility as a way to beat complacency.

I think a lot of artists eventually get too comfortable and stop pushing themselves creatively. For me, evolution is everything. I’m constantly asking myself why certain artists who once inspired me stopped growing or never became as global as they could’ve been. A lot of the time, the answer is complacency. They found a formula and stayed there.

I never want to limit myself like that because there are so many untapped sounds, ideas, and audiences out there. Music shouldn’t have boundaries. Nobody sets the ceiling for your creativity except you. That’s why I’m always experimenting and trying to evolve the M?STIC sound into something bigger than one genre or one scene.

M?STIC’s career has steadily been picking up steam as higher-profile bookings allow him to reach new audiences. Standout appearances include his 2025 performance at Lost Lands and bookings at SYSTEM OVERLOAD and an edition of Brownies and Lemonade‘s NO PHONE ZONE series earlier this year. For those looking to catch him in action, M?STIC is in the midst of his VIRAL SZN Tour, which features a stop at Zombie Apocalypse.

Always looking to improve his craft, M?STIC’s desire to “process emotions and turn difficult moments into something meaningful” has given him the drive required to become a tastemaker within the bass scene. “I built everything from absolutely nothing. Nobody handed me opportunities or created this path for me,” he stated. “Everything behind this project was built through struggle, sacrifice, and belief in myself. When you truly believe in your vision, it becomes easier to silence that doubt.”

As for the future of the M?STIC project, the rising phenom sees himself playing a pivotal role in changing the course of bass music. Looking to lead by example, his goal “isn’t just to fit into the genre — it’s to push it forward.”

I want M?STIC to become something people hear and instantly recognize — something that pushes other artists to elevate their own creativity and step outside the box. Right now, I notice a lot of artists copying each other or recycling the same ideas, and I think the scene is overdue for real innovation.

M?STIC

As M?STIC gears up to play Zombie Apocalypse this June, he stopped by to drop off a massive mix for the Bass Fidelity series. “This mix was honestly long overdue,” he shared. “I’ve been creating so much new music lately that putting this together felt like a breath of fresh air. It was cool hearing everything come together in one place and seeing the progression of the project.”

I started the mix off with tracks from my new EP, ‘VIRAL SZN,’ and then moved into some unreleased collaborations and newer material I’ve been working on. Overall, a lot of the selections reflect where my head is creatively right now — high energy, emotional, experimental, and built for live performance.

I’ve been grinding hard toward this next chapter, especially with the upcoming tour and everything surrounding the project, so this mix feels like a snapshot of where M?STIC is headed.
