Machinedrum Announces New Mini-Album BL00MS: Hear Two Tracks

1 hour ago 3

North Carolina producer Travis Stewart, better known as Machinedrum, has been making dance music for a quarter century. In recent years, Machinedrum has made tracks with stars like Freddie Gibbs and Tinashe, and his most recent album 3FOR82 came out on Ninja Tune in 2024. Now, Machinedrum is relaunching his own label IAMSIAM and announcing the new mini-album BL00MS, his first instrumental record in years.

A few weeks ago, Machinedrum released a one-off track called "No 1 Knew." That one appears on BL00MS, and so do the new tracks "When Ur Gone" and "BL0000M." All three of them are moody, spacious dance instrumentals that get a whole lot of mileage out of evocative samples. There's room to go deeper, too. Physical editions of BL00MS will be available on floppy disc-style USB drives, which are apparently loaded with Easter eggs. And Machinedrum has set up what a press release calls "a collaborative digital garden that grows into procedurally generated ASCII flowers with unique audio variants from the mini-LP." Sure!

Before BL00MS comes out, Machinedrum will play a bunch of North American gigs. The press release promises "a series of 3+ hour DJ sets with custom visuals created by Stewart himself." Below, check out the three BL00MS that are currently out, as well as the tracklist and Machinedrum's tour dates.
