Maddie Ashman welcomes a new musical chapter with new song, "Amber"

"Amber" follows Ashman's EP Her Side released early this year, previous single "Dark", which dropped in May, and the announcement of her debut UK/EU headline tour. The song is said to usher in a new musical era for Ashman, as she explains: "The 5/4 rhythm is determined but wonky, while the hocket is fun and chatty (yet relentless), holding so much tension.”

Delving further into the track, she adds: “'Amber' is about the experience of being told you’ll be happier on the other side of something, but it feels sooo slow and frustrating trying to get there. It comes from a place where I was at a low point, and impatient to just be ‘better’. And how that more widely ties into girlhood, reinvention, delusion, dreaming, becoming."

"I was in a chaotic limbo when I was writing 'Amber' and did a lot of ‘stomps’ (impatient GRRR walks)," she continues. "I wanted to capture that ‘stuck’ energy and the feeling of release when you finally break through.”
