Madonna has been ramping up to Confessions II, the sequel to her Stuart Price-produced 2005 club classic Confessions On The Dancefloor. She dropped lead single "I Feel So Free" two weeks back, just before making a surprise guest appearance with Sabrina Carpenter at Coachella weekend 2. Onstage in Indio, they debuted a new collab called "Bring Your Love." Today, the studio recording has arrived.
"Bring Your Love" calls back to past Madonna dancefloor jams, though it's as much like "Vogue" as anything off the first Confessions. "Don't comment on my IQ/ I don't want your judgment or your expectations," the track begins. Later on, we're told, "I know where the bodies are buried/ Don't try to shut me up/ Don't try to distract me with numbers/ I did it all for love." It reminds me a bit of "Rain On Me," the pandemic-era Lady Gaga/Ariana Grande collab, though the generational gulf between Madonna and Carpenter is far wider, and this hook isn't as hooky.
Maybe it will be a hit anyway? Hear "Bring Your Love" below.
Confessions II is out 7/3 via Warner.
