MARILYN MANSON Cancels UK Show After Protests

6 hours ago 3

Marilyn Manson silently cancelled his Brighton, England show after significant protesting from local government representatives and victim advocacy groups.

Fans were met with a message from Ticketmaster on Saturday morning stating that the gig had been cancelled and refunds were being issued.

Manson announced his summer tour in April, and while expectedly, there was some backlash, the fact that anything was done about it may come as a bit of a surprise.

A UK member of parliament (MP) wrote an open letter to her local city council, calling for the Brighton show to be cancelled, citing Manson's previous sexual abuse allegations as the cause.

The MP believed that his presence would impact "other people visiting the city centre, local residents, and the wider community," according to the letter which was co-signed by victim advocacy groups.

Fans were quick to defend Manson, saying that the allegations were just that – allegations, and no charges had ever been filed. They even went as far as to say it was censorship. Manson's gig was cancelled regardless.

It should be noted that one of the reasons that Manson was not charged was because the statute of limitations ran up – meaning, that too much time had passed since the alleged crimes.

Manson's European and UK leg of his upcoming summer tour was due to start in Brighton, England. There currently isn't any word as to whether or not Manson plans on cancelling the rest of his UK tour.

His US tour is due to go off without a hitch – seemingly. You can check out the schedule for the One Assassination Under God tour below.
