In 2024, London-based experimental singer-songwriter Martha Skye Murphy released her riveting debut album Um, which featured composer and guitarist Roy Montgomery on the beautiful single "Need." Today, the pair is announcing a joint LP called Nebular. The enrapturing lead single "Cloudburst" it out now, and it's a sprawling seven and a half minutes.
"Roy and I have a shared vernacular in the music we make together; a kind of sonic sign language, which allows us to communicate without ever really explaining the material to one another," Murphy explains. "This is partly due to our shared process, which embraces layers, multitracking and imperfection (for me). I see our collaboration as a continuously unravelling piece of string; one song leads onto the next like a slowly evolving constellation and I'd like to hope we continue in this vein."
