MEMORIALS (Electrelane/Wire) share new song “In the Weeds”

MEMORIALS, the duo of Verity Susman (Electrelane) and Matthew Simms (Wire / It Hugs Back), are back with their first new music since releasing their fantastic debut, Memorial Waterslides, in 2024. “In the Weeds” takes their signature sound — droney organs, motorik rhythms, haunting melodies — into new territory, with funky drumming that recalls Can legend Jaki Liebezeit, and flowing, dubby production. The band’s new album is in the can but not officially announced yet and let’s hope this is the first taste of that. Stay tuned. Meanwhile, MEMORIALS are also releasing a very limited edition 7″ single next week (12/12) which will be hand stamped and numbered and only available “directly from the band plus a select few of their favourite record shops.”

MEMORIALS played their first US shows earlier this fall opening for Stereolab. Let’s hope they return next year. They’ve got UK/EU dates lined up for 2026 and those are listed below.
