MJ Lenderman Debuts Another New Song In The Adam Friedland Show Performance

2 hours ago 2

MJ Lenderman debuted two new songs in an Athens, GA performance Wednesday, and he plays a third new one in a video from The Adam Friedland Show that dropped today.

Lenderman's appearance on the YouTube talk show premiered this week. The episode began with his solo cover of Warren Zevon's "The French Inhaler," and Friedland promised a second Lenderman performance in a bonus video dropping today. That video is out now, and the other song appears to be some pure, uncut Lenderman, an unreleased ballad shaped by all his signature tendencies.

The new song begins about 3:45 into the embed below. It's a minor-key slow jam that leans into Lenderman's Jason Molina influence, but with tongue a lot deeper in cheek than Songs: Ohia ever got: "I still stand the tallboy cans by the trash for you/ What's a stay-at-home cowboy to do/ But put on yesterday's clothes/ And set out to roam the living room alone?"
