Morrissey canceled a concert in Stockholm, Sweden, over the weekend, citing exhaustion after traveling through six countries in the span of seven days.
In a statement shared on social media, the singer blamed a “lack of financial support from imaginary record labels.”
“We are travel-weary beyond belief. We can barely see,” Morrissey added. “We pray to God that someone, somewhere can help us reach Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Denmark … where we have thousands upon thousands of friends, yet absolutely zero music industry support. No label will release our music, no radio will play our music … and yet our ticket sales are sensational. What does this tell us about the state of Art in 2025?”
Morrissey hasn’t released a new album since 2020’s I Am Not a Dog on a Chain, and he has repeatedly lamented his struggles to find a label to release its follow‑up, Bonfire of Teenagers.
Yet even before his struggles with record labels, Morrissey had long held a reputation for being an unreliable live performer — having canceled or postponed well over 100 shows since 2010.
As of now, he’s due back on stage in Berlin on June 27th. A North American tour — including several make-up dates for shows postponed earlier this year — is set to kick off in September.
