While Neil did return to the stage for a solo show in early August, last night’s Vegas gig marked Mötley Crüe’s first concert in nearly a year.
The band kicked off the performance with “Too Fast for Love” on a no-frills stage, paying tribute to their early years as a club band. Shortly thereafter, the full elaborate stage setup was revealed, as the Crüe played a career-spanning 14-song set that included classics like “Shout at the Devil,” “Home Sweet Home,” “Dr. Feelgood,” and the set-closer “Kickstart My Heart.”
Throughout the evening, Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee shared stories about the songs and the band, while guitarist John 5 was given the spotlight with a blistering guitar solo in the middle of the set.
Fan-filmed video footage shows Neil moving a bit gingerly, but powering through the songs vocally as he reached his familiar upper register.
Mötley Crüe’s Vegas residency continues with nine more shows on September 13th, 17th, 19th, 20th, 24th, 26th, and 27th and October 1st and 3rd. Pick up tickets here, and watch video footage and see the setlist from the kickoff concert below.
