My Morning Jacket are celebrating the 20th anniversary of their 2005 album Z with a newly-expanded deluxe edition arriving on October 3rd. They’ve also revealed a previously unreleased song from the Z sessions, “Where to Begin.”
The new deluxe edition of Z will arrive in a 3xLP set comprised of pink, coral, and blue-colored vinyl, as well as on CD and digital configurations. The package will feature a remastered edition of Z, plus 14 key outtakes, previously unreleased songs, demos, new liner notes from David Fricke, and more. Pre-orders are ongoing.

The set will also feature “Where to Begin,” which My Morning Jacket wrote and recorded for Cameron Crowe’s 2005 film Elizabethtown. The track notably marked some of guitarist Carl Broemel and keyboardist Bo Koster’s first contributions to the band; Broemel, in particular, adds enchanting pedal steel — a sound frontman Jim James recalls as “one of the coolest things… we’d never had that before.” Listen to “Where to Begin” below.
My Morning Jacket are also bringing Z on tour for its 20th anniversary, with special play-through shows scheduled this summer and fall at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado, the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, the Brooklyn Paramount in New York, and The Salt Shed in Chicago.
