Natalie Shay turns growing pains into gold on “Do u relate?”

The North London songwriter’s latest single, “Do u relate?”, captures that restless, transitional stage, when you’re still under your family’s roof but itching to take the next step. We’ve all been there, stuck in that limbo with no certainty on what to do next. When you’re in the thick of it, it feels claustrophobic and entirely consuming, but once it passes, you realise that it’s just a chapter in a much bigger story, one that in hindsight shapes who you are more than you knew at the time.

Shay shares, “It couldn’t be more of a diary entry of my thoughts and emotions around that time. I always write about things I feel, or from observing people close to me. I love to perform songs that tell the story of me… I just hope to be relatable and for people to be like, ‘oh yeah, I feel like that sometimes too.’”

There’s a sun-soaked quality to “Do u relate?” that makes it feel instantly familiar. Fluid and melodic from the start, the track unfolds as melodic guitar lines shimmer against a lively rhythm section. Radiating the energy of a full band and with an epic sax solo, “Do u relate?” couldn’t be more irresistible and despite the song's more sombre narrative, is the ultimate feel-good tune.
