Nathan Fielder Rehearses a Plane Crash in New Trailer for The Rehearsal Season 2: Watch

1 day ago 4

The second season of Nathan Fielder’s hybrid reality-comedy show The Rehearsal will debut on April 20th, and HBO has just revealed the first trailer.

“I’ve been studying commercial aviation disasters as a hobby, and I started to notice there’s a disturbing pattern in the causes of these crashes,” Fielder narrates at the onset of the new trailer, later revealed to be discussing airplane crashes with a scholar at the Aviation Technology Complex. Fielder then posits the idea of role-playing as a chance to dig deeper into why these plane crashes occur; the trailer proceeds to show Fielder and the producers construct lifelike sets of airport terminals, planes, faux crashes, and more.

It’s not all aviation-focused, however, as the trailer previews more elaborate scenarios that Fielder and co. explore, including an American Idol-style vocal competition show, a clown being trapped under his own car, a wedding, a father wearing stilts addressing his young son, and others. Watch the trailer below. One clip features Tennessee representative Tim Burchett asking, during a hearing: “Mr. Fielder, where does your sense of altruism come from, where all of a sudden you want to save lives? You’re known for pranking people!”

The series’ official logline reads: “The Rehearsal follows one man’s journey to reduce the uncertainties of everyday life. With a construction crew, a legion of actors, and seemingly unlimited resources, Fielder helps ordinary people prepare for life’s biggest moments by ‘rehearsing’ them in carefully crafted simulations of his own design.”

The Rehearsal Season 2 will debut on HBO and Max on Sunday, April 20th, following the airing of The Righteous Gemstones (sign up for Max here). We previously named Season 1 of The Rehearsal as one of the best TV shows of 2022.
