Ariana Grande is one of the biggest and best A-list pop stars we've got, and we're seeing some indications that she's not quite done being a pop star just yet. Grande has been taking a lot of movie roles lately. Last year, she comments that indicate she's planning on focusing on acting rather than singing in the immediate future. But now, it's looking like she'll probably have a new album out this summer.
On Wednesday, Grande posted a carousel of photos of herself in the studio. TMZ reports that those pics are not archival. Instead, sources tell TMZ that she has already finished work on a new LP, which she plans to release "around summertime."
Grande's last album, 2024's Eternal Sunshine, was her first in four years. It was a critical and commercial success, going double platinum and spinning off two #1 hits. On June 6, she'll kick off her brief Eternal Sunshie Tour in Oakland. Grande's Brighter Days hotline was set up in advance of her Eternal Sunshine release. Last month, fans noticed that the hotline had updated its message, setting up the tour and throwing in a joke about a possible eighth Grande album: "Our staff here at brighter days are so looking forward to continuing our mission of bringing happiness and healing to as many as we can this summer in person. we’re counting down the 8s — oops, i mean the days."
“hello and thank you for calling the brighter days ahead hotline. we just wanted to say thank you all so much to our loyal customers for making this last year together something we’ll never want to forget. our staff here at brighter days are so looking forward to continuing our… pic.twitter.com/mbXZ9NGFN3
— ariana grande news network (@arianagbnewsnet) March 28, 2026In the time since releasing Eternal Sunshine, Grande has mostly been out on an endless, eventful press tour to promote her roles in the two Wicked movies. The second Wicked was a relative disappointment, but the first was a huge success that got Grande an Oscar nomination. During last year's run to flog Wicked: For Good, Grande talked about taking a long break from music. But in a January Variety interview, Grande was asked about the possibility of new music before her Eternal Sunshine Tour. She said that wouldn't happen, but she did promise more music "soon enough": "Nothing is coming before May. I love [the fans] so much, but sometimes I want to ask, 'Do you think there’s another version of me out there who had time to write an album?' Not yet — but soon enough."
Grande also has a bunch of acting roles coming up in a season of American Horror Story, the Meet The Parents sequel Focker In-Law, and the animated Dr. Seuss adaptation Oh, The Places You'll Go!
