New Girl Creator To Write Britney Spears Biopic

We learned back in 2024 that Britney Spears had sold the rights to her memoir, The Woman In Me, to Universal, and a biopic was on the way with Marc Platt producing and Jon M. Chu directing. Now, we finally have an update.

The project has recruited Liz Meriwether — best known as the creator of New Girl — as the writer. The news comes via The Hollywood Reporter, and Universal have not yet offered a comment. The audiobook version of The Woman In Me became the fastest-selling in Simon & Schuster's history, and it was narrated by actress Michelle Williams, who starred on the FX comedy drama miniseries Dying For Sex, which Meriwether also worked on.

This is much better news than the last time we heard about Spears, which involved a DUI and offering police officers lasagna.
