Noel Gallagher Gives First Interview About Oasis Reunion: “It’s Been Truly Amazing”

1 week ago 8

Noel Gallagher made his first public comments about an Oasis reunion during a surprise appearance on talkSPORT, a UK sports radio program, on Tuesday. While he mainly called in to talk about his beloved Manchester City, he answered a few questions about the band’s ongoing tour—marking the first on-record remarks from either him or Liam Gallagher since their reunion.

Noel Gallagher shared that he’s feeling “on top of the world” and has been “blown away” by the overwhelming reception of the gigs have received thus far. “It’s been truly amazing. I’m not usually short for words,” he added.

Reflecting on his first time back on stage with Oasis, Gallagher admitted, “For me personally, I grossly underestimated what I was getting into. After about five minutes I was like, ‘All right, can I just go back to the dressing room and start this again?’ I’ve done stadiums before and all but, but I don’t mind telling you my legs are turned to jelly after about halfway through the second song. I could have gone back and taken a minute. It’s been an amazing thing.”

Liam was especially complementary of his brother Liam, who he says is “smashing it. I’m proud of him… I couldn’t do the stadium thing like he does it. I kind of look around and I think, ‘You know, good for you, mate.’ He’s been amazing.”

Noel also admitted that he and Liam haven’t really discussed the significance of their reunion. “I guess when it’s all said and done we’ll sit and reflect on it,” he shared, “but it’s great being back in a band with Liam. I forgot how funny he was.”

Of the upcoming gigs he’s most looking forward to, Noel highlighted the band’s planned stops at Estadio Monumental in Buenos Aires, Argentina on November 15th and 16th. “We’ve played there a couple of times and the Argentinians are without doubt in the top five places for us to play in the world,” he said.

Before heading to Latin America, however, Oasis will play shows across North America, starting with gigs in Toronto this coming weekend. See the full schedule below, and look for tickets here.
