Nothing have shared a new single from their upcoming album A Short History of Decay and they announced a lengthy 2026 tour happening before their Slide Away festivals. The new song, “Purple Strings,” finds the band changing things up from their usual shoegaze vibes in favor of a slow-burning acoustic ballad, with help from Mary Lattimore on harp. It starts out bare-bones before reaching a sweeping climax, and it comes with a Kevin Haus-directed video that you can watch below.
Nothing’s tour features support from Full Body 2, Cryogeyser and Violent Magic Orchestra, and it begins on March 4 in Baltimore. An artist presale is underway now. Brooklyn gets a stop on April 3 at Warsaw. All dates are listed below.
Nothing will also be back in Brooklyn for the May 15 & 16 editions of their Slide Away festival at Brooklyn Paramount. They’ll be celebrating the 10th anniversary of Tired of Tomorrow at that fest, which also features reunions from Hum and Chapterhouse, and more.
A Short History of Decay arrives on February 27 via Run For Cover, and we’ve got an exclusive “sour apple glitter” vinyl variant in an exclusive PVC bag up for pre-order in the BV shop. That’s limited to 300.
