Oscar Isaac Discusses Playing With Hot Chip In Beef, Juliana Madrid Explains Her Cameo

2 hours ago 4

The second season of the Netflix comedy-drama series Beef is here, and it has some musician cameos: Finneas (who wrote, produced, and composed the original soundtrack), Benny Blanco, and Hot Chip, who perform "Over And Over" with Oscar Isaac.

Isaac, who was once in a ska-punk band, told Radio Times about the experience. "[Hot Chip] is a group that we both talked about and one that actually meant a lot to me as well," he explained. "I remember getting the CD in, I think, 2007 and listening to it obsessively."

"And the fact that we landed on them, and were able to get them to come out and play, there was just a meta level to what we were doing," he continued. "So that was so exciting when [Sonny] said, 'It’s happening.'"

In addition, Juliana Madrid covers Tame Impala's "New Person, Same Old Mistakes" in Episode 3 and it's on the soundtrack, which was released last week. Yesterday she shared an acoustic performance from a promo event, and she technically acts in the movie. Here's what the singer-songwriter said about it in a social media video:

I got a call, saying, "Hey Sonny wants you to have a song in Season 2 of Beef." And I was like, "That's crazy." And it's the cover I did by Tame Impala called "New Person, Same Old Mistakes." Love that song, so I was like, "Fuck yeah, so down." And then he was like, "Also you're gonna be in it." And I was like, "What?" I don't act, I'm not an actor. But thankfully, my part was just "Acoustic Singer," which is sick. Now I'm in Episode 3, 17 minutes. I'm on the screen for like 10 seconds but I am serenading Carey Mulligan and Oscar Isaac, which is really crazy. Also, Oscar Isaac told me I have a beautiful voice. So, that's cool.
