“Ozzy Day” To Be Celebrated in Late Metal Icon’s Hometown of Birmingham, England

Birmingham, England will mark the one-year anniversary of the passing of the city’s hometown hero Ozzy Osbourne on July 22nd with “Ozzy Day,” a celebration featuring live music, tributes, and other activities.

Sam Watson, the Chair Central of the Birmingham Business Improvement District, stated, “Ozzy Day is a fantastic example of Birmingham working together to celebrate the legendary Ozzy Osbourne. By bringing together businesses, cultural organisations and public spaces, we’re creating a city centre wide experience that encourages people to celebrate the legacy of a truly global, Birmingham-born icon.”

Councillor Deborah Harries, Cabinet Member for Culture, Birmingham City Council, added, “Ozzy Osbourne is one of Birmingham’s foremost cultural figures, and we continue to honour his legacy here in the city, where his journey began. I am glad to see the city partners coming together to celebrate Ozzy’s influence on music and his pride in his hometown.”

Ozzy passed away on July 22nd, 2025, just 17 days after he performed his final concert as a solo artist and with his band Black Sabbath at the “Back to the Beginning” concert at Birmingham’s Villa Park.

Recently, the metal legend’s widow Sharon and son Jack announced that an interactive Ozzy avatar is being developed, with Jack noting that the project embodies “the digital DNA of Ozzy Osbourne, voice, image [and] movement.”
