Matt Pinfield got the surprise of a lifetime following his recent stroke and coma, as the former MTV veejay was gifted with a custom cane from none other than Ozzy Osbourne.
As previously reported, Pinfield awoke from two-month coma in March after suffering a massive stroke in January. The radio and television personality later reported that he was “slowly but surely recovering,” and recently made a public appearance as a host of Green Day’s recent Hollywood Walk of Fame induction ceremony.
Osbourne, who has battled his fair share of health issues over the past several years, sent Pinfield a beautiful custom cane with a gold handle engraved with the name “OZZY.” The onetime 120 Minutes host proudly posted a photo of himself holding the cane on Instagram, writing the following:
“Once in a while an act of kindness and friendship can make your day (or your year!). When I got this beautiful surprise gift from one of my rock ‘n roll heroes, I was completely blown away!!! The one and only Ozzy Osbourne, who I discovered at 9 years old with the Black Sabbath album, Paranoid, sent me one of his own personal engraved custom canes. I was absolutely floored when it appeared because I learned Ozzy handpicked it out from his personal collection. Couldn’t think of a more thoughtful gift for a man who loves rock and roll, and is recovering from a life threatening experience! Thank you Ozzy, Sharon, Michael G, and Keith!! I love you all!!!!”
A couple days ago, Pinfield gave another update on his health, writing, “Learning to Walk again literally. The fight continues… but everyday a little better and I can promise you I won’t stop working hard at my recovery. Much love to you all for all the continued support. There is so much power in your prayers, words and well wishes.”
Following two stints on MTV’s 120 Minutes, Pinfield currently hosts a couple of radio shows in Los Angeles, and is the co-host of the AXS TV show The Power Hour.
Osbourne, meanwhile, will perform his final show ever, both as a solo artist and as frontman of Black Sabbath, during a historic July 5th concert in his hometown of Birmingham, England. The lineup also features Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Tool, Slayer, Alice in Chains, Gojira, and many more notable rock and metal acts.
