"I started putting it together the moment I got out of prison, building it on real reflections and real experiences I processed while I was away. These bars were born in a cell and completed when I was released, with each collaboration — from Byron Messiah to ODUMODUBLVCK to Black Sherif—being organic and true, like home-cooked food from the motherland, filled with love and truth. Afrikan Di Alien, for example, was inspired by conversations Black Sherif and I shared about Africa’s politics and the corruption and politics that hold us back," Pa Salieu shared in a statement about the release.
"My music explains who I am and what I stand for; it’s how I speak to the world. I was processed through the system, but I processed my mind towards freedom," he continues. "So, when I come up against restrictions—like venues that won’t let me perform—I don’t feel sorry for myself or hold animosity towards others. I keep going because I understand why. Now, I’m back with nothing to prove, only here to experience the joys of making music."
"In the artwork, you'll see my head is a crown, the tribal marks, and the Marcus Garvey flag of Pan-African unity—all symbols of where I come from and who I am. There’s power in music, power in unity, and a call to bring our people together in these times of division. To me, this project is more than just a collection of songs; it’s a reminder of our roots, our unity, and our shared purpose."
