We’re in the thick of Year End List season, and we’ve been asking artists to tell us about their 2025 favorites. Peter Silberman of The Antlers made us a list of 10 albums, and you can read that, along with his commentary, below.

The Antlers released their first album in four years, Blight, in October; stream it below.

PETER SILBERMAN OF THE ANTLER’S FAVORITE ALBUMS OF 2025

Stereolab – Instant Holograms on Metal Film
We’re just so incredibly lucky to get a new Stereolab album in 2025. This one is unmistakably *them* but feels pretty different to me. Refreshing to hear a band that’s been around so long sound energized and frantic, beamed down from some alternate future.

Shin Sasakubo – Layqa Taki
This was a bit of an accidental discovery after getting into a record he made as a duo with Fabiano do Nacimento. Fascinated by his guitar work on this record, full of complex patterns that somehow become memorable hooks.

claire rousay – a little death
I find claire’s records intriguing… I’m always trying to solve her albums, to understand the significance of the included field recordings and spoken pieces. Then I let go of analysis and just feel it make sense.

Ichiko Aoba – Luminescent Creatures
Listened to this beautiful album a lot this past spring; it sounds like grass coming up through the soil, trees leafing out and sporadic drizzle.

Clara Mann – Rift
There are endless singer-songwriters out there but very few who can hold their own with little more than their voice and guitar and have that feel like enough. Clara’s got a lovely, lilting voice and intricate melodies that carry weight despite their lightness.

Jefre Cantu-Ledesma – Gift Songs
Within the first minute of this album, I knew I was going to have it on loop all year. Meditative and healing. There’s more ambient music out there than ever before but so rare to have one like this that feels so alive and played.

Akasha System – Heliocene
May have listened to this album more than any other. Sometimes an electronic record just finds you when you need it. I love the juxtaposition of polyrhythms and 90s new age textures, without sounding like an ironic throwback.

Juana Molina – DOGA
Like Stereolab, it feels like a blessing to get another Juana Molina album. This new one is, to my ears, stranger and more alien than her earlier albums, but with that familiar looping momentum.

Lucrecia Dalt – A Danger to Ourselves
Was obsessed with her last record ¡Ay! and was so psyched to listen to this new one. It skews darker and starker, rhythmically complex, meticulous and inventive. Reminds me of some of my favorites like Bjork and Portishead, but only for fleeting moments and more in spirit than sound. She’s fully doing her own thing.

David Moore – Butterfly Gardens
David is a dear friend and bandmate in Cowboy Sadness, so forgive the bias. He released this Bandcamp-only album that I’ve listened the hell out of this year. Hypnotic and peaceful, but also spontaneous feeling, like a secret glimpse into a dedicated creative practice.

The Antlers will be on tour in the US in January followed by UK shows in March and more North American dates in April. No NYC show this time, but they’ll be at Kingston’s Tubby’s on April 21. See all dates below.
