Power Rangers actor Dave Mallow has died, aged 76.

Mallow, who played the villain Baboo in over 130 episodes in the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series in the ’90s, passed away on Tuesday (March 12) while in hospice care in California, according to TMZ.

A source close to the actor claimed that his health had been steadily declining in recent years.

Beyond Power Rangers, which ran for three seasons from 1993-1995, Mallow also voiced various video game characters, including roles in the Warcraft series, Digimon: Digital Monsters and Diablo 3. Mallow also wrote and directed many anime projects.

Joshua Seth, best known for his starring role as Tai in several evolutions of Digimon, was one of the first to pay tribute to Mallow.

He wrote: “I just heard that voice actor Dave Mallow passed away. He was one of the first voice actors who befriended me in LA. I was Hutch in Honeybee Hutch. Dave and I used to watch old movies in his metal house in the hills and talk about voice acting. He was also the voice of Angemon in Digimon. He started voicing anime IN THE 80s. Look him up. I’ll bet he voiced in a show you love. RIP Dave.”

Fellow voice actor Sandy Fox, who is the voice of Betty Boop and Hello Kitty, added: “Rest in Peace, dear fellow voice actor Dave Mallow. Your kind soul and brilliant light will be missed.”

A host of fans also paid their respects with one writing: “Thank you Dave Mallow. You helped voice my childhood – teenage years.”

Another added: “R.I.P. Dave Mallow You played my favorite Digimon ever. Thanks for the memories.”

Mallow is survived by his older sister, Marilyn, who also resided at the same senior community, MonteCedro. The late actor had been retired from professional endeavours since 2019.
