Sabrina Fuentes' Pretty Sick project has come a long way since it started out as a fuzzed-out New York grunge band a decade ago. On her upcoming album Anarchy, Fuentes teams up with Oscar Scheller, the London producer who has made hits with PinkPantheress and Lily Allen and who just did great work on Kelela's new avatar album, to make dizzy, brain-addled hyperpop. That sound is taking her to some fascinating places.We've already posted Pretty Sick's Anarchy singles "Star," "home2hide," and "UrNewImTrue." Today, she shares the bleary, woozy, hypnotic new track "City Kid." Oscar Scheller produced the track, and he co-wrote it with Sabrina Fuentes. Over molten in-the-red synth oscillations and huge trap drums, Fuentes sings in deadpan, declaring what sounds like a hollow triumph: "Booked a big stage, now can't nobody fuck with me/ Cameras flash, nothing lasts, everybody touchin' me, yeah." She repeats the phrase "get wrecked" a lot of times.
