Queens of the Stone Age have announced a companion audio album to their new concert film Alive in the Catacombs. The recording is set to arrive on digital platforms Friday (June 13th) and on limited-edition vinyl on August 22nd via Matador Records.
Housed in a gatefold jacket with foil print inside and out, the Alive in the Catacombs vinyl edition contains a 24-page booklet of behind-the-scenes photos taken by long-time collaborator Andreas Neumann. Each copy is pressed on one-sided vinyl and housed in sleeves individually foil-stamped and numbered through 5,000 copies.

The five-song performance was recorded without overdubs or edits and saw the band’s lineup of Joshua Homme, Troy Van Leeuwen, Michael Shuman, Dean Fertita and Jon Theodore augmented by a three-piece string section, with chains and chopsticks used as makeshift percussion instruments. The audio was recorded by producer Mark Rankin alongside François-Xavier Delaby, Henri d’Armancourt, and Alban Lejeune. Rankin, Homme and Shuman handled the final mixing.
The Alive in the Catacombs concert film began streaming via the band’s website last week alongside an accompanying documentary, Alive in Paris and Before. Both arrived just days before the launch of the band’s US tour — dates that were rescheduled after being postponed in 2024 due to Homme’s medical emergency.
The tour kicks off with two nights in Boston on Tuesday (June 10th) and Wednesday (June 11th), making stops in Atlantic City, New Jersey; Columbus, Ohio; Cincinnati; and Madison, Wisconsin, before wrapping with a final date in Chicago on June 21st. Get tickets here.
