Renée Zellweger and Christoph Waltz have joined the cast of Only Murders In The Building season five.
The pair join Keegan Michael Key as the latest stars to be announced for the new season. Of course, main cast members Martin Short, Steve Martin, Selena Gomez, and Michael Cyril Creighton will all be returning for season five.
At this moment in time, Zellweger and Waltz’s character details and storylines are being kept tightly under wraps.
Created by Steve Martin and John Hoffman, the series follows a trio of true crime podcast enthusiasts who become friends and begin investigating murders within their apartment complex.
Only Murders were able to have some fun with Zellweger’s casting announcement, sharing a picture of her name on set chair to parody Marvel’s recent 6-hour cast reveal for Avengers: Doomsday.

The last season of Only Murders was its most star-studded yet, including the likes of Eugene Levy, Zach Galifianakis, Eva Longoria, Richard Kind, Kumail Nanjiani, Molly Shannon, and even more cameos and returning cast members.
In a four-star review of season four, NME wrote: “After a slightly stilted start, Only Murders soon locks into its usual rhythm. It’s a shame that scenes pairing Martin and Levy – two bona fide comedy icons – aren’t fizzier, but Longoria gets some zingers.
“As the season progresses, the murder investigation becomes more gripping and the punchlines keep on coming. So, let’s hope they’re already working on their season five wish list – surely Martin Short has Catherine O’Hara’s number?”
Since the show began in 2021, it has won four Primetime Emmy Awards from a total of 49 nominations, including Outstanding Guest Actor for Nathan Lane. Season four, meanwhile, saw Short win his first ever Screen Actors Guild award at the age of 74.
Elsewhere, it was recently reported that Short and Meryl Streep, who also stars in the series as his love interest, have been dating for more than a year.
