Rilo Kiley Perform “Silver Lining” on Jimmy Kimmel Live!: Watch

Rilo Kiley played “Silver Lining” on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Thursday night, celebrating their ongoing reunion tour and new greatest hits collection (That’s How We Choose to Remember It). Watch the performance below.

The beloved indie group dusted off the Under the Blacklight cut for their first late-night TV performance since the promotion cycle for that album back in 2007. They kept the rendition faithful and jubilant, complete with backup vocalists (who sound exactly as they do on the record) and the part in the bridge where bassist Pierre de Reeder plays the triangle. Jenny Lewis, meanwhile, donned a glittering tiara and sang at her majestic best.

“Silver Lining” served as the lead single for Under the Blacklight; though that album was critically maligned and led to their original breakup, “Silver Lining” became one of Rilo Kiley’s most enduring hits. The song was fittingly included on their first-ever greatest hits collection That’s How We Choose to Remember It, which is out today via Saddle Creek. It features fellow Rilo Kiley anthems “Portions for Foxes,” “Better Son/Daughter,” and “The Execution of All Things” among its 11-song tracklist.

The band announced they would be reuniting for the first time in 17 years to tour again, and the celebration officially began on Monday in San Luis Obispo, California. Their next performance is at Just Like Heaven on Friday, May 9th, and they’re slated for more rock-oriented festivals, including Kilby Block Party, Treefort, Austin City Limits.

Going forward, the tour will continue through the rest of May and return in September and October, playing to crowds across the United States in Phoenix, Seattle, New York, Pittsburgh, Nashville, and more (get tickets here). The tour is set to wrap on September 26th in Atlanta.
