Robyn Hitchcock has announced a few East Coast shows happening in the fall, including DC’s The Atlantis on November 20 and two nights at NYC’s Bowery Ballroom on November 22 & 23. Tickets for those shows go on sale Friday, August 8 at 10 AM.
There’s also a special Robyn Hitchcock show at Woodstock’s Bearsville Theatre on December 27 where he’ll be playing Bob Dylan’s John Wesley Harding album in full. “The songs on this LP were all written by Dylan up in Woodstock, where he was living at the time, wearing a black hat and staying well away from the world. As 1968 loomed Dylan’s influence was at its zenith, and this was a key record in ushering rock music down from the psychedelic peaks of 1967 into the more reflective approach sometimes known as Americana. Fast-forward to December 27th 2025: I’ll have a band with me so I’m not fixin’ to get tooo reflective. We’ll play a few additional songs by Dylan and other artists to give the album some context – 58 years has given me plenty of time to ponder this. See y’all there, folks!”
Robyn is also playing a Captain Beefheart tribute at San Francisco’s The Chapel on August 29 with Chuck Prophet, Kelley Stoltz, Blag Dahlia (The Dwarves), Lydia Walker and more.
All dates are listed below.
In other news, there’s a new reissue of Underwater Moonlight, the 1980 classic from Robyn’s former band, The Soft Boys, which was just released via his own Tiny Ghost Records. This 45th anniversary reissue has been remastered and cut from the original tapes and comes in a gatefold sleeve complete with a 20 page booklet featuring liner notes from David Fricke and Robyn, as well rare archival photographs and band memorabilia.
