ROOZTER Gives Us the Lowdown on the Evolution of His Project

15 hours ago 2

ROOZTER stopped by to discuss the evolution of his project, which includes a brand-new look, new release, and so much more!

Earlier this year, Mexican artist ROOZTER went dark on socials, announcing that the project was nearing its end. This led fans to speculate about retirement, but cryptic posts promised an eventual return. For a few months, the unidentified entity behind the project pursued other endeavors, but he constantly heard the mask of ROOZTER calling to him. Finally, after much anticipation, the masked man is back in action!

This month, activity picked back up on ROOZTER’s Instagram page with teases of a new future, culminating in the reveal of his newest look. While he previously drew influence from lucha libre, this evolved form of the project aims to represent a universal gladiator who battles everywhere, not just in the ring. Donning a unique blood-red mask, this new look will tell a more complete story with every release and live performance.

Previously, ROOZTER joined us for an episode of Paradigm Shift, our hard dance mix series, where he revealed much about what his project meant to him and what he represented in the scene. With this evolution that mirrors Goku’s Super Saiyan transformations, we needed to catch up with him to find out what’s coming next. Luckily, he was able to give us the inside scoop on what this new look means for him moving forward, discuss new music and plans on the horizon, reflect on the hard dance scene in Mexico, and so much more!

Hey ROOZTER, thank you for taking the time to chat with us at EDM Identity! To start, we need to talk about your new look! Why did you feel like you needed to change your visual identity?

Thank you for the space. This new image represents an evolution in me. It’s like a transformation of ROOZTER. I passed on to the next level and returned stronger than ever.

You’ve told us in the past that your old mask represented the fighting spirit of the rooster, your favorite animal, and lucha libre gladiators. What is the significance of this new mask and design?

The meaning of this new transformation is similar, but with more power. As opposed to a luchador in the ring, this is much more than that. Now, I’m a fighter of the universe with more strength and power. I don’t give up, and I fight against whatever opposes me. I give the best of my energy in my music and in my live sets to tell a story and deliver a clear message. Imagine Goku evolving.

Often, with a new look comes new music. Your music in the past was hard dance-oriented, but are you also changing up your signature sound?

Yes, that’s how it is. When an evolution occurs in someone, every aspect evolves. Of course, there will be different music, but it will never lose the ROOZTER touch.

Your first release in this new era, “Red Clown,” was just released on October 24. What made this the perfect record to introduce your fans to this new era of ROOZTER?

I had some demos in the studio, and I didn’t want to leave them there. One of those demos was “Red Clown.” Because of the Halloween season and the energy that represented this track, I decided that it needed to be the first release of my evolution.

You also just returned to the US for a show with Hard Havoc. How was your return, and can fans expect you to start touring the US heavily moving forward?

Everything was perfect. I’d like to thank the team at Hard Havoc for everything. I felt full of energy for my return. In the States, the people are crazy, and they know how to enjoy hard music, and they’re appreciated for that! I’m ready for the next shows, and yes, I want to come back to the States.

2025 was a bit of a quiet year for ROOZTER. What can fans expect from ROOZTER going into 2026 and beyond?

There’s a ton of collaborations, shows, and more surprises on the music front for 2026, but hey, 2025 isn’t over yet, right? I still have some shows pending in Mexico—why not another in Europe?

In Mexico, the hard dance scene is growing, but it’s not mainstream yet like other genres. What would you say to the fans who are still unsure about coming out to hard dance events like the ones you play?

That’s a great point, but let me tell you that lately, I’ve seen huge growth for hard music in Mexico. There are hard techno and hard dance events every weekend, even in states where I never used to see them, like Guerrero. I’m not sure if you know, but I’m from Guerrero, a southern state in the Mexican Republic, and my next show is there. I never imagined I’d play as ROOZTER there. Believe me that even I’m surprised at how much the culture surrounding hard music has advanced in these areas.

I know there’s still room to grow, so to those fans who are still unsure, I can tell them this: this genre makes you forget all of the bad happening outside. Those energetic drops and kicks will connect you to your true subconscious.

Finally, with this new era in full effect, do you have any words of advice for artists looking to make a change, whether in their musical style or artistic presentation/branding?

What can I say? Make changes and keep doing them for love. Never lose sight of your goal, but don’t forget to enjoy it, either. If your intuition is telling you to change something, do it. We are more than our bodies. We are energy and souls paired with the universe and God. Whatever you believe in doing, continue doing it with the strength of your faith.
