Rosé of BLACKPINK is stepping into her next chapter as a soloist, and she’s brought along Bruno Mars to kick things off in style. The two have shared their fun new collaboration, titled “APT.,” with a music video co-directed by Mars. Stream the song below.
“APT.” offers the first look into the upcoming solo album from Rosé, titled rosie, which is set to arrive on December 6th. The 12-track project is described as her “most personal and candid release to date,” and she holds writing credits on every song on the album.
The title of a song is a reference to a Korean drinking activity known as the apartment game. “It’s so simple, puts a smile on your face, and breaks the ice at any party,” Rosé shared in a statement. “One night in the studio, I taught my crew how to play the game. Everyone was fascinated, especially when I started the chant, so we played around with it and I said we should make a song out of it. After Bruno joined the track, the rest became history!”
Bruno Mars confirmed the anecdote via Instagram. “This was me hanging on for dear life after Rosé introduced me to this Korean drinking game and got me saucy,” he said. “Soon after, she tried to kiss me, and I was like, ‘Woah Rosie! What part of the game is this?'”
“What’s wrong with u,” Rosé commented in response.
While Rosé is prepping for her album, Bruno Mars is gearing up for one more leg of his Las Vegas residency (grab tickets here). “APT.” marks another high-profile 2024 collaboration for Mars after his previous single with Lady Gaga, “Die With a Smile.”
