Tom Scharpling’s The Best Show debuted on WFMU in October 10, 2000 and very quickly became known as a place where indie rock and indie comedy both had a home. Tom does The Best Show as an independent online show / podcast out of Los Angeles these days, but the spirit remains the same. For its 25th anniversary, Tom and collaborator Jon Wurster (who plays regular guests Philly Boy Roy, The Gorch, music critic Ronald Thomas Clontle and more) will take the show on the road for a few specials nights across the USA.
Things start in Brooklyn with nights at The Bell House on October 11 & 12., and then head to Philly’s Union Transfer on October 13, then LA’s Lodge Room on October 15, and finally Chicago’s Thalia Hall on September 21. Tickets are on sale.
The anniversary shows promise “Mirth, Music & Mayhem,” with Tom and Jon, plus “celebrity guests, music, and plenty of surprises!” They definitely won’t have any trouble filling these bills.
