Scowl celebrated the recent release of their new album Are We All Angels with a blistering rendition of the song “Tonight (I’m Afraid)” on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert on Wednesday (April 9th), marking the rising hardcore band’s debut television performance.
The Santa Cruz band kept things pretty tame for the first half of the song, which has more of an alt-rock vibe, before ramping things up for the hardcore-centric second half of the tune.
Singer Kat Moss went in full whirling dervish mode and broke into a scream to close out the performance, with the audience and Colbert himself giving the band an enthusiastic round of applause.
Scowl will be further supporting Are We All Angels with European tour in May, followed by North American dates in June, July, and August (pick up tickets here). The band is also playing the free INDIEPLAZA event at New York City’s Rockefeller Center with The Hives and others this Saturday (April 12th).
Back in February, Are We All Angels single “B.A.B.E.” was named Consequence‘s Heavy Song of the Week, while previous single “Special” earned an honorable mention in the same feature.
