Serj Tankian has announced a new album titled Covers, Collaborations & Collages, compiling previously unreleased cover songs, collaborations, and other tracks. In advance of its October 24th release, the System of a Down singer has unveiled the single “Electric Dreams.”
“Similar to [my 2024 EP] Foundations, these are pre-existing archival recordings, some of them from way back,” said Tankian in a press release. “I wanted to put out a record of collaborations I haven’t released before, along with covers, which I haven’t done. The rest, the collages, are parts that fit the puzzle in the same tone, the same vibe.”

Among the collaborations are “The Seed” featuring Deadmau5; “Things Unspoken” featuring Bic Runga; and “Apocalyptical Dance” featuring Lucas Vidal. One of the covers is a reimagination of Chris de Burgh’s “I’m Counting on You,” while another is a version of Armenian songwriter Ruben Hakhverdyan’s “When Death Arrives.”
Leading up to the album’s release, Tankian will unveil a new song each week, along with an accompanying video telling the story behind each track.
In the meantime, Tankian is set to join his System of a Down bandmates for a series of North American stadium shows, beginning with a two-night stand August 27th and 28th at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Pick up tickets here.
