Sex Pistols Play First Reunion Show with Frank Carter as Frontman: Watch

Sex Pistols played the first of three reunion shows at West London’s Bush Hall on Tuesday night (August 13th), featuring classic members Steve Jones, Glen Matlock, and Paul Cook performing with singer Frank Carter in place of Johnny Rotten. The revamped Pistols lineup also announced a fourth London show set for September 26th a the the O2 Forum Kentish Town.

Two of the concerts at Bush Hall were announced back in early June as benefit shows to help keep the historic Shepherd’s Bush venue in business. A third show (August 15th) was added after the first two (August 13th and 14th) quickly sold out, but tickets are available via Viagogo.

As promised, the Pistols and Carter played the entire Never Mind the Bollocks album in full, albeit not in sequential order, ripping through classics like “Holidays in the Sun, “Bodies,” and the set-closer “Anarchy in the U.K.”

For “God Save the Queen,” Carter changed the lyrics to “God Save the King” in recognition of King Charles’ current reign, and were joined briefly on that song by Yungblud, who had been in the audience crowd-surfing.

In video footage posted to YouTube, the red-haired Carter looked right at home with the legendary Pistols members. The singer, who has established himself as a dynamic live performer with his bands Gallows and Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, clearly paid homage to Rotten throughout the show with his facial expressions and vocal inflections.

“I’m having the time of my fucking life here,” Carter told the lucky crowd of 400 people who were able to witness the rousing performance.

In addition to the Never Mind the Bollocks songs, they also performed their classic cover of The Stooges’ “No Fun,” as well as the non-album tunes “Did You No Wrong” and “Satellite.”

As mentioned, Sex Pistols and Carter have two more shows at Bush Hall, in addition to the newly announced gig at O2 Forum Kentish Town. Pick up tickets to the remaining concerts via Viagogo.
