Shakira Brings Nanny Who Ratted Out Gerard Piqué on Stage for “El Jefe”: Watch

17 hours ago 4

In a perfect world, girl code transcends all, something Shakira emphasized at a recent show in Mexico. During a performance of her song “El Jefe,” she brought out Lili Melgar, the longtime nanny to her sons and the person who first alerted the singer to her now ex-husband’s infidelity. Watch the clip below.

When soccer player Gerard Piqué became aware of this development a few years ago, he reportedly fired Melgar without compensation. Once the couple was divorced, though, Shakira hired her back, paid her, and then offered her parts of the royalties to the song “El Jefe,” which teases details related to the messy demise of her relationship.

“Lili Melgar, this song is for you, since they didn’t pay you severance,” she sings towards the end of the song, a collaboration with Mexican vocalist Jesús Ortiz Paz.

It’s not the first time she’s publicly dragged her unfaithful ex — in January, Shakira released a song called “BZRP Music Session #53” where she blasted the athlete: “Media outlets at my door and in debt with the government/ You thought you hurt me, but you made me stronger/ Women don’t cry anymore, they cash in.”

She’s absolutely right on the last part as her packed 2025 stadium tour continues. Grab a ticket to see Shakira live here before the trek touches down in the US in May.
