Sharon Osbourne has made her first individual public comments regarding the passing of her husband Ozzy Osbourne via a new post on her Instagram account.
Along with a video of herself and daughter Kelly Osbourne interacting with falcons and owls in a large field, Sharon wrote the following message to fans on Saturday (September 13th):
“I’m still having trouble finding the words to express how grateful I am for the overwhelming love and support you’ve shown on social media. Your comments, posts, and tributes have brought me more comfort than you know. None of it has gone unnoticed, in fact, it’s carried me through many nights.
Though I’m still finding my footing, I wanted to share some glorious creatures I had the chance to spend an afternoon with. The connection you make with these powerful birds is built entirely on trust and confidence. They’ll choose to perch on you only if they sense you are safe and unafraid of them. It’s a bond I know all too well, and the experience was nothing short of magical.
I love you all, and I thank you deeply for the otherworldly amount of love you continue to send my way.”
The video shows falcons and owls landing on Sharon’s gloved hand, with one owl even landing on top of Kelly’s hat.
Ozzy passed away on July 22nd, just 17 days after he gave his final performance as a solo artist and with Black Sabbath at the “Back to the Beginning” concert that Sharon helped organize with Tom Morello.
In the weeks since his passing, Kelly and her brother Jack have each shared their own tributes, with Kelly writing, “I will not be ok for a while — but knowing my family are not alone in our pain makes a difference,” and Jack stating, “I think Ozzy Osbourne does not end because he passed away on July 22nd … he’s exploding through the universe, and we’re all seeing it.”
