The announcement follows her set at Draaimolen festival in the Netherlands on 4 September, where she premiered music from Swallow!. She has further shows in Turin, Reykjavik, and Barcelona later this year. It follows her debut album Nymph, released in 2022.
Shygirl has called Swallow! "a reintroduction". The record was written at a pivotal moment following Nymph and new love. It finds her merging more indie pop songwriting with her electronic roots, with contributions from fellow British DJ Karma Kid and Canadian singer and composer Casey MQ. Shygirl has said she realised she didn’t need to leave her electronic roots behind to find something new.
The new single "Lucky (Hymn)" arrives with a video that plays as a single unbroken take. It was directed by British-Colombian short film maker Austen Taylor Pease and features Shygirl as Alyse – a character introduced in her previous single "Alyse" – plus another character, Kay, adding another chapter to the cinematic world Shygirl has created.
