Skrillex Shares First-Ever Contra Festival Lineup at Kraftwerk Berlin

19 hours ago 5

Skrillex is hosting a festival called Contra at Kraftwerk Berlin with artists like Blawan, Flowdan, and Hamdi on the bill.

Surprise! Skrillex is throwing a festival. Contra, as it’s called, is set to take place at Kraftwerk Berlin in the heart of the German capital city on May 30-31. And the world-famous producer has spared no time sharing the official lineup with the two-night event.

The first day of Contra features headline sets by Skrillex (real name Sonny Moore) himself, DJs Knock2 and Blawan, and singer-songwriter Nai Barghouti featuring Thys and Péter Somos. The undercard (if you could call it that) consists of familiar faces like DJ Lag, Hamdi, IsoXo, Flowdan, and Tatyana Jane.

Day two is headlined by rappers and singers, with Swedish artist Bladee, US producer-songwriter Bnyx, British-Swedish rapper Ecco2k, and Japanese emcee Tohji performing alongside German rapper Mechatok. Downstream from them on the day two lineup are DJs like Ahadadream, Opium Hum, and Varg2TM.

Moore has not specified why he chose to announce a festival with less than two weeks to go before doors open at Kraftwerk Berlin. But the lineup is in keeping with his penchant for fusing commercial and experimental sounds while taking influences from cultures around the world.

When Moore first delivered the My Name Is Skrillex EP in 2010, he exerted an influence on contemporary electronic music that very few will ever be able to match. More recently, in his 2023 album Quest for Fire, he proved himself capable of doing it all over again. In January, he delivered an EP titled Kora that allowed him to showcase his experimental side.

Tickets to start at €100 ($116 USD) for the full weekend. Purchase yours via Resident Advisor, and find more details on the Contra website.
