SNL Swipes Back at Morgan Wallen

1 day ago 6

One week after Morgan Wallen prematurely walked off Saturday Night Live’s stage during goodbyes, the show responded with not one, but two not so veiled jabs at the country singer during this weekend’s episode.

During the show’s cold open, James Austin Johnson’s Donald Trump referenced Wallen’s “Get Me to God’s Country” Instagram post while introducing his global tariffs.  “I even put tariffs on an island uninhabited by humans. It’s called Heard and McDonald Island,” Johnson’s Trump proclaimed. “McDonald Island. I would love to visit there. Can you imagine that? Big Mac and a hula skirt. Get me to God’s country, right? Remember that?”

Later, during Weekend Update, Colin Jost took an even sharper jab at Wallen while discussing the economy: “Money is leaving the stock market faster than Morgan Wallen at goodnights.”

It’s still unclear why Wallen made an awkward exit during last week’s episode, leaving the stage without acknowledging the cast. While his team has tried to downplay suggestions that he was slighting the show, Wallen soon began selling “Get Me to God’s Country” merch on his website.
