The long-awaited and highly anticipated Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse has been delayed again.
The animated film, which is meant to conclude the acclaimed Spider-Verse trilogy, was originally due to premiere in March 2024. However, due to several delays – in part due to 2023’s SAG-AFTRA strike – work on the animated film was halted, and it was removed from Sony’s release schedule altogether.
Earlier this year, Sony Pictures confirmed that the trilogy closer would finally hit cinemas in across the globe on June 4, 2027. Now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the film’s once again being pushed back – though only by a few weeks this time. It is reportedly now scheduled for June 25, and will maintain its 2027 launch plans.
According to insiders, per The Hollywood Reporter, the slight delay comes as a strategic move to catch more kids in the cinemas as it’ll be around the time of the United States’ summer break kicking off. It is also believed to be a more “appealing” date internationally.

The film is set to pick up directly after events in Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse, which ended on a cliffhanger as Miles Morales is confronted with a villainous version of himself in the Earth-42 dimension. Gwen Stacy assembles a team to find Miles Morales, consisting of Spider-Man Noir, Spider-Ham, Peni Parker and many others.
Shameik Moore leads the film’s voice cast as Miles Morales, alongside Jake Johnson, Hailee Steinfeld, Mahershala Ali, Brian Tyree Henry, Lauren Velez, Jason Schwartzman, Issa Rae, Daniel Kaluuya and Oscar Isaac.
The upcoming third entry is touted as the concluding chapter following Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse and 2018’s Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, which won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature.

Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse ranked 11th on NME’s best films of 2023. A review of the film read: “In a time of supes fatigue, the second Spider-Verse film set itself (spandex-clad) head and shoulders above the rest as 2023’s most inventive and visually-dazzling blockbuster, mashing up different animation styles with ease.”
In other Spider-Man news, Tom Holland has shared some details about the upcoming live-action Marvel film Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which is slated to arrive on July 31, 2026. Speaking on the Flip Your Wig YouTube channel, the actor revealed that they’re back to filming in real locations again, after being forced to film entirely on stages for Spider-Man: No Way Home due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
