System of a Down have played their first two shows of 2025 as part of a South American tour, and the alt-metal band is digging deep into its catalog on the outing thus far.
On Thursday (April 24th), SOAD kicked off their “Wake Up! South American Stadium Tour” at Estadio El Campín in Bogotá, Colombia, with a marathon 34-song set. The band played 11 songs from their multiplatinum album Toxicity, including “Arto” for the first time since 2015. Steal This Album! was well represented, as well, with six songs, including “A.D.D.” for the first time since 2018 and “Streamline” for the first time since 2005.

The next show at Estadio Nacional in Lima, Peru, on Sunday (April 27th) offered up more rarities, including Steal This Album’s “36” (first time since 2002) and “Pictures” (first time since 2017), as well as “Mind” (first time in full since 2011) from SOAD’s 1998 self-titled debut.
The South American tour, which runs through a May 14th show in São Paulo, could offer a taste of what’s to come on System of a Down’s upcoming North American stadium shows (pick up tickets here).
Singer Serj Tankian and company are set to play two shows each in East Rutherford, New Jersey (August 27th and 28th with Korn); Chicago (August 31st and September 1st with Avenged Sevenfold); and Toronto (September 3rd and 5th with Deftones), with tickets available here.
This November will mark 20 years since System of a Down released their last studio album, 2005’s Hypnotize, although the band did unveil two new songs in 2020 (“Protect the Land” and “Genocidal Humanoidz”), both of which they performed at the show in Bogotá.
