System of a Down are set to embark on a limited run of North American stadium shows, with each city featuring a different notable co-headliner.
The outing kicks off with two shows August 27th and 28th at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, where System of a Down will be joined by Korn. A couple dates at Chicago’s Soldier Field will follow on August 31st and September 1st, with Avenged Sevenfold on the bill. And, finally, SOAD will play two nights with Deftones at Toronto’s Rogers Stadium on September 3rd and 5th. Each stop of the tour will feature opening sets by Polyphia and Wisp.

While it’s been nearly 20 years since System of a Down released their last album, 2005’s Hypnotize, the band continues to play sporadic shows to massive crowds. They are known to perform marathon sets consisting of well over 30 songs spanning their entire career, with their concerts in South America earlier this year whipping the crowds into an absolute frenzy.
Even though System of a Down haven’t been making new music lately, their principal members have been busy in the studio. Singer Serj Tankian just announced a new album titled Covers, Collaborations & Collages, while guitarist-vocalist Daron Malakian recently released the new LP Addicted to the Violence from his band Scars on Broadway.
