The line-up of contestants for the 20th season of Taskmaster has been announced – find out who will be vying for Greg Davies’ approval below.

The next season of the Bafta-winning Channel 4 show is expected to air later in the year, coinciding with the 10th anniversary of the first series, which debuted in July 2015.

Hoping to win the Taskmaster trophy next time around will be stand-up comedians Ania Magliano, Maisie Adam and Phil Ellis, as well as Reece Shearsmith and Sanjeev Bhaskar.

Magliano has appeared on the BBC’s Live At The Apollo, while Adam is a TV comedy panel show regular, including Sky’s A League Of Their Own. Ellis, meanwhile, is known for his BBC Radio 4 series Phil Ellis Is Trying.

Shearsmith was a founding member of The League Of Gentlemen alongside Steve Pemberton, Mark Gatiss and Jeremy Dyson and also co-wrote and starred in Inside No. 9. He has also appeared in Shaun Of The Dead, The World’s End and Saltburn.

Bhaskar, meanwhile, was the co-creator and star of the BBC sitcoms Goodness Gracious Me and The Kumars At No. 42. He has more recently presented travel documentaries and is the star of the hit ITV crime drama Unforgotten.

Since its 2015 debut, the show has gone on to air in 120 countries and has found success on YouTube with 1.9million subscribers and 895million views since their official channel launched. Taskmaster: The Live Experience has also been a success in London.

Earlier this year, footage emerged of the original stage incarnation of Taskmaster, which was first performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2010.

Alex Horne played the title role in that first version, with the idea having been inspired by The Crystal Maze, as well as Horne’s work on Big Brother, and his envy of his close friend Tim Key winning the Edinburgh Comedy Award in 2009.

The 19th season of Taskmaster concluded on Thursday night (July 3).
