The Beatles Unveil Early “Day Tripper” Recording Ahead of Rubber Soul Reissue: Stream

The Beatles have released “Day Tripper (Songwriting Work Tape),” an early version of their classic song that will be included in an upcoming expanded special edition of Rubber Soul. Stream it below. “Day Tripper (Songwriting Work Tape)” offers a glimpse into the early stages of the track, capturing Paul McCartney and the late John Lennon working through its sound at the latter’s home in Weybridge, Surrey. The duo is heard laughing together as they build upon “an old folk song” Lennon wrote one month earlier, according to a press release.
