The first full trailer for HBO Max‘s upcoming series Dune: Prophecy has been released – watch it below.
Last night (October 17), Max shared the first official trailer for its upcoming Dune prequel series, which is set 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet), as a gathering of Harkonnen women plot to establish a new covenant known as the Bene Gesserit.
Along with the epic new trailer comes a release date for Dune: Prophecy, which is now confirmed to premiere on the streaming platform on November 17. The season will consist of six episodes, and will be released every Sunday on a weekly basis.
In the new trailer for Dune: Prophecy, we get a new look at a pair of sisters played by Emily Watson and Olivia Williams, who conspire to form the Bene Gesserit in order to combat an unknown force that threatens the demise of the universe, and to keep the Harkonnens and the other Great Houses in check.

Dune: Prophecy serves as a prequel series to the Denis Villeneuve films, and is based on the novel Sisterhood Of Dune, written by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson.
In a four-star review of Dune: Part Two, NME wrote: “As with the first movie, Part Two proves a pulse-poundingly immersive experience, courtesy of cinematographer Greig Fraser’s stunning visuals, production designer Patrice Vermette’s wildly imaginative sets and some inspired sound design work. This is particularly evident during the film’s exciting central set piece, when Paul has to prove himself by riding a giant sandworm, a punch-the-air moment that was teased in the first part and pays off wonderfully here.”
In other Dune-related news, Villeneuve confirmed in September that a third film, Dune: Messiah, will be his last for the franchise: “Listen, if Dune: Messiah happens, it will have been many years for me on Arrakis, and I would love to do something else. I think that it would be a good idea for me to make sure that, in Messiah, there are the seeds in the project if someone wants to do something else afterwards, because they are beautiful books. They are more difficult to adapt. They become more and more esoteric. It’s a bit more tricky to adapt, but I’m not closing the door. I will not do it myself, but it could happen with someone else.”
In April this year, following the release of Dune: Part Two, it was confirmed that Messiah will move ahead with Villeneuve, though a release date has yet to be announced.
