“We’ve been talking for years now about getting as many of the covers we’ve done for specific territories together and releasing them for all to hear. It’s finally happening,” says The Dandy Warhols‘ Zia McCabe of the group’s new all-cover album. With a nod to Bowie (who they don’t cover), it’s titled PIN UPS, and will be out March 20 via Beat The World/Little Cloud Records.
Bands covered on this 17-track album include The Beatles, The Cure, The Clash, Gang of Four, The Cult, America, The Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan, Love & Rockets, and more. They’ve shared their cover of The Violent Femmes‘ “Kiss Off,” which is sung by Zia McCabe and given a dark, fuzzed-out makeover. Watch the video for that below.
