Vin Diesel and Paul Walker brought street racing to the mainstream and launched a groundbreaking franchise with The Fast and the Furious exactly 25 years ago today, June 22nd. To celebrate the anniversary, Universal Pictures has announced a new 4K Ultra HD remaster releasing on August 25th. Pre-orders are now available for the limited edition Steelbook and standard 4K Ultra HD formats.

The new 4K transfer enhances the action classic with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, and includes a never-before-seen bonus retrospective featuring Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, producer Neal Moritz, and Meadow Walker filmed at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.

Directed by Rob Cohen, the first Fast and Furious film introduced Diesel as Dominic Toretto, whose tight-knit heist crew is infiltrated by Walker’s undercover detective Brian O’Conner. Spawning a blockbuster franchise that moved into stealing bank vaults and flying into space, the original stays grounded with a Point Break-adjacent plot.

Earlier this year, Diesel announced that the 11th and final Fast and Furious film, Fast Forever, will be released on March 17th, 2028. In the meantime, grab a 4K collection of all 10 Fast movies, and see our ranking of the entire franchise.
