The Grateful Dead’s 1977 concert film The Grateful Dead Movie is heading to theaters and IMAX in celebration of the group’s 60th anniversary this summer.

The newly-remastered documentary will first make its IMAX debut in 60 theaters across North American as an exclusive preview on August 13th, followed by a wide release on August 14th. The theatrical event is also a part of the Grateful Dead’s long-running “Meet-Up At the Movies” series, which they’ve been doing annually since the first event in 2011 (in which they also re-released The Grateful Dead Movie in theaters).

The August event marks to first time The Grateful Dead Movie is being screened in IMAX, with the doc being remastered to create an immersive, visually engaging concert film experience. The new edition will also feature new and exclusive bonus footage of the band’s five-night run at the Winterland Ballroom in 1974, with the end now featuring performances of “China Cat Sunflower” and “I Know You Rider.” Tickets are on-sale now.

The Grateful Dead are celebrating their 60th anniversary this year, and spin-off group Dead & Company will ring in the occasion with three special hometown concerts on August 1st, 2nd, and 3rd at San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park. The events will mark Dead & Company’s first shows since their residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas, which concluded last month. Get tickets to see Dead & Company here.
