This week's new heavy metal releases include the return of a synthy side-hustle, Americana metal, really heavy stuff, and more! To the metals…
Arcadea – The Exodus Of Gravity

Genre: Synth/progressive metal
Origin: Atlanta, Georgia
Label: Relapse
Buy now on Bandcamp
When he's not painting clowns, Mastodon's Brann Dailor is fronting this sci-fi rock band. The drums are stellar of course, but this is more of a spacy affair. This time he and Core Atoms (Gaylord) are teaming up with synth wizard João Nogueira.
Bask – The Turning

Genre: Heavy Americana/psychedelic
Origin: Asheville, North Carolina
Label: Season Of Mist
Buy now on Bandcamp
I was late to the Bask train since this is the band's fourth record, but man am I glad I got on eventually. I can really only liken their sound to Huntsmen in that they have some twang and southern harmonies. Think recent Mastodon, Baroness, and maybe Alice in Chains.
Burning Witches – Inquisition

Genre: Heavy/power metal
Origin: Brugg, Aargau, Switzerland
Label: Napalm
Buy now on Bandcamp
Looking for some straight up heavy metal? Look no further than Inquisition. This is the kind of shit that'll make you run full-speed into battle on a horse. Don't worry about what battle or where you got that horse.
Deftones – Private Music

Genre: Alternative metal
Origin: Sacramento, California
Label: Reprise
Buy now on Amazon
It's been a five years since Chino and the boys slinked through your eardrums. I many ways this feels like a perfect combination of all eras of the band. Glad to have these guys back after their longest gap between records yet.
Signs Of The Swarm – To Rid Myself Of Truth

Genre: Deathcore
Origin: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Label: Century Media
Buy now on Bandcamp
Good god this is abrasive. From composition to production, this one hits hard. And they're beating you up with a bunch of their friends like Will Ramos (Lorna Shore), Phil Bozeman (Whitechapel), 156/Silence, and Prison)
We Came As Romans – All Is Beautiful…Because We're Doomed

Genre: Post-hardcore/metalcore
Origin: Troy, Michigan
Label: SharpTone
Buy now on Amazon
Concluding this week with some catchy metalcore. Lots of big ol' choruses that'll get stuck in your head here. Also, I love the album title. Really puts things in perspective.
