The X-Men Enter the Fray in New Avengers: Doomsday Teaser: Watch

2 days ago 5

The third teaser trailer for Avengers: Doomsday has come online, and it sees some classic Marvel characters making their MCU debut. Patrick Stewart’s Professor Xavier returns after his “cameo” role in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnesswhile Ian McKellen’s Magneto and James Marsden’s Cyclops appear for the very first time.

Now, we haven’t covered the previous Doomsday teasers, because frankly “we’re bringing back legacy characters, but with kids now” isn’t terribly interesting. But the X-Men? We’re very here for that.

The teaser features monologue from Magneto running throughout. “Death comes for all of us, that’s all I know for sure,” he says. “The question isn’t are you prepared to die; the question is who would you be when you close your eyes?”

We’re given a dark glimpse through the X-Mansion, before Xavier rolls out in a navy jacket with the instantly recognizable red X. As a king chess piece — an iconic symbol from the original X-Men trilogy — floats in the air, it’s revealed Prof X is sitting across from his old frienemy, Magneto. They take each other’s hands before we cut to Cyclops, wearing his comic-accurate blue-and-yellow suit. Clearly war torn, he removes his visor and unleashes a massive optic blast towards the sky, as behind him, a giant metallic leg steps into view — a Sentinel!

The X-Men’s integration into the MCU is one of the most anticipated elements of Avengers: Doomsday. We’ll see how they handle the merging multiverse when the movie hits theaters on December 18th, 2026.

Joe and Anthony Russo (Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame) return to direct, while other X-characters coming back include Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler)m Rebecca Romign (Mystique), Kelsey Grammer (Beast), and Channing Tatum (Gambit). Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) is rumored, but not confirmed.

Previous MCU stars set to appear include (deep breath) Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Chris Evans (Steve Rogers), Robert Downey Jr. (Doctor Doom), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Anthony Mackie (Sam Wilson/Captain America), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Sebastian Stan (Bucky/Winter Soldier), Danny Ramirez (Falcon), Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), David Harbour (Red Guardian), Hannah John-Kamen (Ghost), Wyatt Russel (U.S. Agent), Lewis Pullman (Bob/Sentry), Letitia Wright (Shuri/Black Panther), Tenoch Huerta Mejía (Namor), Winston Duke (M’Baku), Simu Liu (Shang-Chi), Pedro Pascal (Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby (Invisible Woman), Ebon Moss-Bacrach (The Thing), Joseph Quinn (Human Torch).

As if that cast isn’t big enough, there’s always the chance even more Marvel characters will be part of the event film and/or its sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, coming December 17th, 2027.
